Visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a special place. It simultaneously celebrates and preserves the history of Tennis and celebrates the sport’s champions. The complex exists within what was once known as the Newport Casino, a beautiful facility dating back to 1880.
Originally, the Casino was a social club for Newport’s turn of the century summer elite and later became the first U.S. National Men’s Singles Championship site. Ultimately, this event, which became known as the US Open, was moved to New York, but the event remains a part of the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s legacy.
Within the International Tennis Hall of Fame, you’ll find a museum dedicated to the sport’s history, grass courts, and an indoor tennis facility. The museum showcases more than 2,000 tennis-related artifacts, images, videos, and publications relating to the sport over the course of its history. Get up close and personal with Roger Federer in the museum, too, with its famous holographic theater.
Of course, while you’re at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, you’ll learn more about the Hall of Famers themselves. There are 262 inductees represented at the facility, representing 27 countries around the world. The most recent round of inductees was just added on July 17, 2021.
You can, of course, also play some Tennis while you’re visiting the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The facility houses 13 grass, 6 hard, and 1 clay court, which continue to be played on by members and tennis players from around the globe. The Hall of Fame Tennis Club is open to the public daily for court time, lessons and clinics. Each July, the facility also hosts the Hall of Fame Open, with the next one taking place July 10 – 17, 2022.
